Finding a children’s dentist who accepts Denti-Cal can take more phone calls than it should — many offices don’t take it. At Hopscotch Children’s Dentistry in Concord, we’re glad to. Dr. Yasmine Zaeni and our team welcome Denti-Cal families and provide the full range of covered pediatric dental care in a friendly, kids-only office.

Denti-Cal accepted

Do You Accept Denti-Cal?

Yes. We welcome children with Denti-Cal, which California now officially calls Medi-Cal Dental. It’s the dental part of Medi-Cal, the state’s Medicaid program, administered by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). It isn’t a private insurance plan, so there are no PPO networks to compare.

Who Is Eligible?

If your child has full-scope Medi-Cal, dental coverage is included automatically — there is no separate dental card. Children with Medi-Cal that has a share of cost may also be eligible, while emergency-only Medi-Cal is limited to urgent dental services. Our team can check your child’s eligibility at the visit.

What to Bring to Your Visit

Bring your child’s Medi-Cal Benefits Identification Card (BIC) and your photo ID, plus any completed new-patient forms. The office uses the BIC to confirm coverage.

Start Early: First Visits and Kindergarten Checks

Medi-Cal and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry agree: a child’s first dental visit should happen when the first tooth appears, and no later than the first birthday. California law also requires children in their first year of public school — transitional kindergarten, kindergarten, or first grade — to have a dental checkup by May 31. Our first dental visit page explains what to expect.
